About us

My name is Gary, I’m a life-long aquarist and owner of Catappa Canada. I started at the age of 6, with a free goldfish, and sixty years later I'm still in love with aquariums. I have been involved in the aquarium industry since the age of 14, I have owned my own tropical fish store (Tropical Fins, Victoria BC) and have worked for several wholesalers in the pet product industry.
We are located on beautiful Vancouver Island in British Columbia and currently we have a very full fish room where we breed a variety of fish and shrimp.
Catappa leaves have been commonly used by professional aquarists in Asia for years and are now becoming more common in Europe and North America. The only problem is good quality leaves were difficult to find in Canada. I imported some for my own use and loved the affects on my fish tanks so I started to sell them to fellow aquarists, and that is how Catappa Canada started.
We also offer other unique aquatic botanicals that not only look great in your tank, but add healthy properties to your water that keep your fish and shrimp happy and beautiful.
